Balloon Safaris

A balloon safari offers the ultimate "bird's eye" view of African landscapes and wildlife, and perfectly complements the land-based safari experiences. To drift silently over the great plains of Africa as dawn lights the horizon, revealing an infinite and primal wilderness, is to see the world through new eyes. The elegant and genteel nature of the ballooning is accentuated with an effortless champagne breakfast at the landing site.

Because hot air balloons are at the mercy of the wind, and can travel great distances in a relatively short period of time, a very specific combination of climatic and habitat features is necessary to accommodate balloon safaris, and only a few ecosystems can offer this activity. In the southern African context, the two destinations that offer the most ideal balloon safaris are the towering dunes of Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert, and the vast Busanga Plains in Zambia's Kafue National Park.
