L'Auberge du Quartier Français rests in the historic French Huguenot village of Franschoek, at the head of one of the most beautiful valleys of the Cape Winelands. Enter Le Quartier Français and you step into a Matisse painting, Big blocks of primary colors saturate fine quality hand-painted fabrics. Design is simple, clean and playful, abstract floral prints and stripes abound. Attention to detail is exemplary at Le Quartier with smooth white Egyptian cotton sheets, down duvets made for sweet dreams, and wool carpets with undercarpet heating for chilly mornings. Dining at Le Quartier Français should not be missed! Touted as one of South Africa's most innovative restaurants, the Tasting Room has won numerous accolades for its innovative cuisine, service and wine. The ever-changing menu boasts a successful melange of French, Malay and traditional South African dishes, each to be enjoyed with its appropriate wine counterpart, of course.
The main auberge consists of fifteen luxurious rooms surrounded by scented white and blue gardens. Each room is individually decorated and fitted with luxurious amenities to ensure a home away from home. The owners original residence has been converted into two exclusive suites with private plunge pools enclosed behind walled gardens.
The Four Quarters features four generously sized suites overlooking a central courtyard and lap pool. Each suite is appointed with luxurious fittings, fabrics, finishes and local artwork. The Four Quarters is ideal for families traveling together and for those seeking a spacious enclave to unwind.
The Cottage is situated across the road from the auberge and restaurant and consists of two en-suite bedrooms, two sitting rooms with fireplaces, and a fully equipped open-plan kitchen and dining area . All rooms open onto a walled garden and private swimming pool.
Rooms in the main complex are situated around a central courtyard with a stylish black granite swimming pool, a wonderful place to spend an afternoon with an chilled bottle of local Chardonnay. Enjoy lunch or a creative afternoon bite at the trendy Common Room, or outside on the European-style patio.
Other amenities to take advantage of at Le Quartier Francais include a screening room where one can slip into leather chairs, sip a local wine, and enjoy a complimentary movie, from old time classics to cinema nouveau. The treatment room offers a mosaic of treatments using products based on the science of aromatherapy. For those wishing to create the French-African experience at home there is the Touches and Tastes boutique providing retail therapy from candles to jewellery, handbags to glasses.
