Lower ZambeziProclaimed in 1983, the Lower Zambezi National Park is one of Zambia's youngest parks. At 1,600 square miles in area, it is also one of the smallest. It is, however, one of the most scenic and exciting, set in a beautiful stretch of the Zambezi valley, across the River from Zimbabwe's wonderful Mana Pools National Park. The Zambezi escarpment reaches 3,000 feet above the valley floor in this area, providing a dramatic backdrop for one of the world's last, great unspoiled rivers. Game is relatively abundant, with concentrations peaking during the dry season when the river becomes the only reliable source of water in an otherwise dry landscape.| | Share |
