Anabezi is a luxurious tented camp located in the heart of Zambia's Lower Zambezi National Park. The camp enjoys a scenic location on the banks of the Mushika Floodplain, at its confluence with the Zambezi River, and is characterized by the constant presence of wildlife in and around camp, attracted by the many Ana Trees and abundant grazing on the Mushika Floodplain.
Anabezi's location in the quiet central portion of the Lower Zambezi makes it an ideal base for a private and intimate exploration of the Park's beauty and abundant wildlife. Ancient Ana Tree forests, towering riverine vegetation, and sweeping floodplains are inhabited by a wide diversity of game, including elephants, buffalo, lion, leopard, zebra, an abundance of antelope species, rarities like aardvark and pangolin, and 500 different types of bird.
This authentic camp combines elements of classic style with understated luxury to provide a best of both worlds safari experience. The sprawling main area provides several restful sitting enclaves including a convivial fire pit and swimming pool. Dining venues also abound, where guests can enjoy a creative fusion of European and African cuisines served with some of South Africa's finest wines.
Twelve spacious tented rooms, each on a raised wooden deck, are set out along a ridge providing magnificent views of the Zambezi River and the Mushika River flood plain. Each tent offers its own private plunge pool as well as indoor and outdoor bathrooms featuring a generous rain shower and free standing soaking tub. Clean lines, natural fibers and neutral colors complement the gleaming wooden floors, which extend onto capacious shaded private decks complete with two large day beds and extraordinary vistas.
Activities at Anabezi are many and varied, taking advantage of both the terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems that surround camp. Game-drives, night drives, and walking safaris maximize exposure to Africa's high-profile savanna species, while boating safaris, canoeing, and fishing excursions showcase the beauty of the Zambezi River Valley, and provide close encounters with some of the denizens of the River (including hippos, crocodiles, and Tiger fish).
The Zambezi River Valley, comprising the Lower Zambezi National Park on the Zambian side, and the Mana Pools National Park on the Zimbabwe side, is one of the most idyllic and wildlife-rich ecosystems in Africa, as anyone who has witnessed a sunset over "The Valley" will attest. And Anabezi is an elegant and luxurious camp with an ideal location from which to explore the myriad splendors of this hidden corner of Africa.
