Orca Attacks in the Cape!

8/18/2017

Great White Shark sightings in False Bay and Gansbaai, South Africa, have diminished dramatically due to Killer Whales predating on the Great Whites in a bizarre fashion.

The great white victims have had their livers removed with "almost surgical precision," according to Biologist Alison Towner of Marine Dynamics.  The Orcas remove the squalene-rich livers and leave the shark carcasses behind. "We have never seen anything like this before in Great White deaths," reports Towner.

Killer Whales are the only known predator of the Great White and are extremely intelligent and specialized hunters which also feed on seals, dolphins, turtles and squid.

As a result, sightings of Great Whites during shark diving excursions have been erratic...good one day and poor the next. We are only informed on a day-by-day basis as to whether the shark diving trips will run, and if you have booked excursion that must be cancelled you will be informed and refunded accordingly. This turn of events provides both a fascinating and challenging time for the Great White tourism industry. We'll keep you posted -
