Elephant Ephemera

Elephants are right or left-tusked, just like we are right or left-handed
Elephants have skin that is 1 inch thick
Elephants can cry and laugh, or purr like a cat, and can hold a grudge
Elephants have baby tusks, like baby teeth, which fall out and are replaced by big tusks as they grow
Elephants love seeing old friends, and will twirl about excitedly, trumpeting and flapping their ears
Elephants hate hearing a youngster in distress, and the whole heard will try to find and sooth it
Elephants can 'hear' through their feet by picking up vibrations. Also, despite growing to the size of a bus, elephants can walk almost noiselessly because of their extensive foot cushioning
Elephants respect their dead, often standing still for a minute's silence when passing a place a loved-one had died.
