Vote for the Kafue Lion Project and Make a Difference

7/28/2010

Kafue Lion Project - Luxury Zambia SafarisClassic Africa is proud to have joined the Wilderness Trust and Panthera Foundation in funding a lion research project in Zambia's Kafue National Park, which was described in detail in Classic Africa News, Volume 1, 2010, "Conserving the King of the Beasts."

We receive regular updates from the project's chief researcher, Neil Midlane, and are delighted to report that our initial donation has been utilized to good effect in acquiring seven refurbished GPS satellite collars. The collars have successfully been applied to seven lions in the Kafue National Park, and the project is underway!

Neil hopes to meet any Classic Africans travelling to the Busanga Plains area (Shumba CampKapinga Camp and Busanga Bush Camp), and looks forward to the possibility of offering them a research drive to further explain the project and its implications.

We have recently learned that the Lion Project is eligible for funding through a competition being hosted by Puma and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). Funding is potentially significant and would enable the project's expansion and increase its positive impact. If you are a Facebook member please click here, select "The African Lion - a King without a Kingdom," and vote to help secure additional funding. The contest ends on Monday. Thank you for your support!
