Classic Africa

Maputaland

Maputaland refers to the north-eastern corner of the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal, and incorporates arguably the most concentrated area of biodiversity anywhere in southern Africa. With several 'big five' game reserves, miles and miles of pristine, unspoiled coastline, and the beauty of the St. Lucia Estuary (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) all within a few hours drive, it is unrivaled for such a small area in its natural and biological diversity. Add to this mix the fascinating culture and history of the Zulu people, and you virtually have Africa condensed into one region.
