Asilia has been named "Most Committed Responsible Tourism Company in Africa." To earn the distinction, ten Asilia properties – Sayari Camp, Oliver's Camp, Little Oliver's, Namiri Plains, Olakira Camp, Dunia Camp, and Ubuntu Camp in Tanzania - and Naboisho Camp and Rekero Camp in Kenya - were independently audited against best-practice criteria set by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
Zambia has traditionally fallen under the radar as one of Africa's great safari destinations. Yet, those in the know recognize it as the birthplace of the walking safari — as well as the home of some of the most highly trained guides on the continent. In South Luangwa National Park visitors can expect to see abundant predators and plains game, while Liuwa Plain National Park is the setting for the world's second-largest wildebeest migration, when tens of thousands cross the plain from neighboring Angola. Last year saw the arrival of Liuwa's first permanent camp: King Lewanika Lodge, an exclusive and luxurious six-villa safari lodge that retains its safari authenticity with canvas walls, indoor and outdoor showers, and decks overlooking the sprawling grassy plains.
