Visitors to Rwanda with time to spend in Kigali before heading out to trek primates at Bisate Lodge, Sabyinyo Lodge, or Gorillas Nest, can now enjoy a walking tour of Nyamirambo, one of the capitol city's oldest neighborhoods.

Experience the vibrant local culture at women's hairdressing salon – where the bold can enjoy a complimentary braid – a tailor's shop to learn about the vibrant local fashion, and a family compound where guests participate in the art of pounding cassava leaves. Marvel at two striking mosques and the view over the city from a lookout point. The tour ends with a traditional lunch, lovingly prepared and served in the home of Aminatha, recognized as Nyamirambo Women's Center (NWC's) finest cook!

NWC was launched at the end of 2007 by 18 Rwandese women living in Nyamirambo to address gender-based violence, gender inequality and discrimination. Today, NWC's mission is to provide education and vocational training to women in need.

Under Aminatha's expert guidance, the group prepares six traditional Rwandan dishes culminating in a delicious communal meal.
