"Tswalu - Muses of the Kalahari"

 Tswalu – Muses of the Kalahari is a new solo exhibition by Gary Stephens in collaboration with the Everard Read Gallery and the Tswalu Foundation, hosted by Fireblade Aviation in Johannesburg. Based on the acclaimed artist's three-month residency at Tswalu Kalahari in northern South Africa, this collaboration and exhibition will benefit scientific research and ultimately inform conservation. The Tswalu Foundation will receive 20 percent of the proceeds from each sale, donations that go directly to funding current research projects on the reserve.

Tswalu was a natural fit for the Arizona-raised Stephens. It allowed him to reconnect with landscapes like those that had inspired him in his youth. In depicting the reserve's bold landscapes, iconic trees, nests and animals, he also revisited his love of color. His new work vividly showcases Tswalu's arid savannah landscapes, unique wildlife, and captivating, ever-changing light.
