To Dance or not to Dance?

A joyous welcome from singing and dancing staff is de rigeur across southern and East Africa. This heartfelt expression of hospitality by guides, chefs, housekeepers, wait staff, and camp managers never fails to warm hearts and make guests feel welcome into the "family."

There is no wrong way to enjoy this spirited tradition - guests are encouraged to join in when they feel the beat and the energy, but there is no pressure from staff. Simply enjoying the performance as you descend from your safari vehicle, and maybe clapping along with a smile, is perfect.

Participants perform as gestures of respect, joy, and celebration that honor visitors, showcase performer's talent, and preserve their culture. The performances are planned, yet spontaneous, and never forced - enabling the team to connect, share, and articulate their identity, reinforcing unity and belonging through joyful expression.
