Plastic Bottles into School Desks!

Lemala Camps and Lodges (Kuria Hills Lodge, Nanyukie, Ngorongoro Tented Camp)  operate entirely plastic free, however they collect all plastic brought onto their properties by third parties, and convert it into school furniture. Each collection bin includes enough plastic to create one school desk and two chairs. To date Lemala has donated 45 student desks and chair sets and 4 teachers' desks to the local schools. And, as a result, approximately 1,800 pounds of plastic bottles have been kept from polluting Tanzania's rivers and national parks.

Elephant Express

Natural Selections (Mapula Lodge, Jack's Camp, Shipwreck Lodge) with the support of their trade partners, has created and funded the Elephant Express  - providing busses to transport students to and from school safely in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. This worthy project has been recognized at the "We are Africa Innovation Awards 2020."Click here to watch a short video about Elephant Express.

This project supplies school bags made from local recycled fabric which are then filled with composition books, stationary and encyclopedias, and then donated to teachers at schools where there is need for supplies. Two hundred and fifty bags have been distributed to date.
