Sighting of the Quarter
10/31/2018
As is often the case in the Kwara Reserve, Okavango Delta, Botswana, the fierce intra-specific competition among predators has led to some interesting sightings. Recently, a sub-adult female leopard was located feeding on an impala carcass high in a tree. Whilst we were watching her a pack of wild dogs appeared opposite, and then a male lion came along the same road. The lion killed one of the puppies, leaving only eight with four adults. Although the guests were sad at the way the morning turned out for the dogs, it was fascinating to witness the interaction among three of the major predators of the region.
Night Sightings.....
The South Luangwa National Park, Zambia, is home to a wide variety of nocturnal creatures. As darkness descends, these animals become active, normally in search of their next meal. Click here to watch the next segment in the "Wild Luangwa" video series..."After Dark."
