The Mala Mala March
9/1/2016
As if inspired by the Great Migration pattern, four MalaMala game rangers became the first intrepid adventurers to circumnavigate the entire 33,000 acre game reserve on foot, sticking as close to the boundary as possible. They covered 43 miles over a period of two days and spent the night on mysterious Misters Koppie - one of the prominent granite outcrops in the south of the reserve. Throughout their adventure the rangers recorded 70 different bird species, 24 different mammalian tracks and encountered potentially dangerous game species on 21 occasions.
