Selinda Spillway Connects
10/1/2009
The Selinda Spillway, which winds through Botswana's 320,000 acre Selinda Reserve in northern Botswana finally connected in late August. With the headwaters racing toward each other for most of the year, the last few hundred yards seemed to take forever as the Spillway had to "climb" over a slight ridge/fault line. Tessa and Stuart, managers of Great Plains' Zarafa Camp, sent these two photos which show the same spot, one dry and the other with the Selinda Spillway finally connecting after nearly 30 years. They were taken about 3 weeks apart.
