Helicopter Excursions for Rhinos

The Mpumalanga Helicopter Co. has collaborated with Care for the Wild to offer a unique fly-in opportunity to visit an extraordinary sanctuary for orphaned rhinos, not open to the public. Care for Wild is the world's largest rhino rehabilitation center providing highly specialized care for young rhinos left orphaned and defenseless by poachers. Here you will see first-hand how determination, passion, and perseverance have positively impacted the rescue mission. A highlight of the activity is meeting some of the sanctuary's residents and helping with feeding.
The helicopter company has also partnered with the Timbavati Wildlife Protection Unit's Rhino Anti-Poaching initiative, offering visitors to the Timbavati the unique opportunity to participate in important anti-poaching air surveillance patrols. Guests will be collected at a helipad closest to their lodge, and in the company of an experienced Timbavati Anti-Poaching Unit Ranger, patrol the property for approximately one hour. While game may be spotted, the primary focus of the flight is to cover the designated area and for guests to gain insight into the Timbavati's intensive wildlife protection programs from a knowledgeable Ranger.
