Pierre's November 2018 Safari
The main purpose of my November trip was to reconnoiter the top wildlife reserves in northern Kenya, a region renowned for its untamed beauty, unique wildlife species, and the proud Samburu pastoralists who call it home. I also took the opportunity extend the trip and spend some time in the Maasai Mara and Serengeti - the combination is logistically easy to accomplish, and the destinations north and south of the equator complement each other perfectly.
As expected, predator viewing was simply outstanding, but I was equally impressed by the broad range of plains game and bird species, as well as the incredible rhino conservation efforts that are bearing great fruits in Northern Kenya. Among many highlights, my most unforgettable wildlife experience was watching the struggle between a martial eagle and a bat-eared fox, a tragic but powerful reminder of the "circle of life" as it plays out literally hundreds of times a day across the African savanna.
