Mara Toto is a unique camp set to be built on the Olare Orok River in Kenya by July 2024, in time for the Great Migration. Its four tented "Réserve-Collection" guest suites will be constructed high in the trees, with a Robinson Crusoe feel. The property boasts access to the private Mara North Conservancy and the Maasai Mara Reserve, known for excellent game viewing. When staff visited the site to determine the location of its accommodation they noticed a rare nest of melanistic bushbabies (possibly even a new species). As the camp is being constructed workers will be sensitive to this nest and its unique local population. In the camp's honor mixologist Mary has created a new cocktail, the Gin & Toto (recipe here), which celebrates the verdant landscape of this very special camp.
Usawa Serengeti Camp
Hosting guests since mid-July, Tanzania's Usawa Serengeti has quickly established itself as a super vantage point for viewing the endlessly shifting abundance of the Great Migration. With nine private locations strategically spread across the migration route, this new mobile camp ensures guests are always close to the action, but far from the crowds. Six en-suite tents accommodate twelve guests in intimate and exclusive luxury, and can also be booked for sole use. The ultra-light footprint and mindful design invites a truly remote and private East African experience, in one of the most sought-after safari destinations on Earth. The camp was included in Architectural Digest 2023's "Best New Hotels!"
