5/28/2023
On April 1st the exceptionally photogenic Chikwenya Camp re-opened at the confluence of the Sapi and Zambezi rivers, within the exclusive Mana Pools National Park, with the Rift Valley escarpment as its backdrop. Chikwenya epitomizes the national park's UNESCO World Heritage status, earned through the purity of its wilderness, beauty and wildlife sightings.
Teeming with game in the woodlands, floodplains, pans, islands and two iconic rivers, Chikwenya is known for its exceptional walking safaris. Day and night game drives, boating and catch-and-release fishing, as well as picnics on Chikwenya Island, add to the exciting diversity of adventure.
Chikwenya's seven tented suites (including two family units with private pools) rest in a grove of shady indigenous trees, inviting elephants, stately eland, and an array of birds to the camp. Decorated in light tones of cream and beige, Chikwenya exudes tranquility, an elegant space blending into the pristine wilderness.
Guests enjoy al fresco dining under the sprawling shade of a Natal mahogany tree, to the chatter of monkeys and birds in the canopy above. The menu at Chikwenya champions local ingredients, cooked in the traditional manner - over the coals and under the stars.
