Brand New Jack's Camp Debuts
In further evidence that our partners in Botswana have been hard at work preparing for the return of safari travelers, the iconic Jack’s Camp in the Makgadikgadi Pans just reopened after being completely rebuilt over 18 months!
Staying true to her roots, Jack’s remains a magnificent campaign-style tented camp with a 1940s Moroccan look and feel, and a wide range of engaging activities by which to explore the beauty, wildlife, history, and culture of one of Africa's most unique desert ecosystems. But sophistication and comfort have been even further elevated, with several new features:
Each of the nine tented suites features an expansive 1,474 square feet of internal space, as well as a private deck and plunge pool where guests can soak up spectacular views of the surrounding desert. The suites now feature “evening breeze” cooling systems over the beds for warm summer days, and Morso fireplaces for cool winter evenings. Electrical outlets have been discreetly added. The famous paraffin lanterns are still available for romantic “Out of Africa” lighting, but each suite is now fully electrified, offering charging capabilities and lighting options.
Common areas have all been enlarged to enhance the sense of space and comfort, while retaining the quirky “explorer” character that is to quintessential to Jack’s – what other safari camp boasts a dining room that is also a registered Natural History Museum, a nomadic Persian tea tent, or a shaded pool pavilion?!
