North Island. Seychelles, was bestowed the prestigious National Geographic World Legacy Award in the category of Conserving the Natural World announced at the ITB Travel Trade Show in Berlin. This honor reinforces the conservation progress on North Island to date and inspires the team to remain deeply committed to their Noah's Ark Island Rehabilitation Program. Alien plant species are continually cleared and have been replaced with 120,000 native seedlings grown in the resort's nursery. Many indigenous wildlife species have returned or been successfully reintroduced, including the Seychelles Sunbird, the endangered Seychelles White-Eye, as well as both green and hawksbill turtles. Successful rat removal has allowed ground-nesting seabirds to thrive, while fishing protocols for guests and local fishermen ensure sustainable management of ocean resources.

Wilderness Safaris was named as one of the Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Africa, by US-based business magazine, Fast Company. Ranked in fourth place, Wilderness Safaris was the only tourism company to make the African Top 10 list, and was recognized for its use of luxury travel to fuel conservation.

In Kenya, Segera Retreat has earned a National Geographic World Legacy Award in the category of Destination Leadership. This high-end ecolodge in Laikipia, reflects the mission of the Zeitz Foundation: achieving a powerful, positive, and lasting impact on the health of the environment, wildlife, and communities. The lodge supports a local school to harvest and filter rainwater;  has established projects to replace deforestation and overgrazing with conservation agriculture, tree planting, beekeeping, solar power, and low-energy cooking; supports the establishment of women's beading and crafting enterprises; and has re-opened migratory corridors and provided creative ideas to curb human-wildlife conflict.
