Camp Updates

9/1/2016

Sausage Tree Camp, Lower Zambezi, Zambia will be rebuilt to create a new and more spacious common area. Rooms will also receive a "face-lift" by replacing the reed walls with fresh light sandy colored canvas.  In addition, a game-viewing vehicle has been added and the rest of the fleet reconditioned with new bucket seats and step ladders.

Hot air balloon safaris will be launched at Vumbura Plains and Little Vumbura camps in Botswana's Okavango Delta, from April through September. Guests can also opt for an exclusive eight-minute helicopter transfer to and from the launch site, which provides an additional bird's-eye view over the spectacular landscape.

Singita Lebombo, Kruger Park, South Africa, has added two new family suites with private swimming pools, a sleek 25-meter lap pool in addition to the expansive deck pool, a new rooftop terrace and dining area incorporated into an architecturally captivating public space, and an interactive kitchen that encourages guest participation.

Tongabezi, Victoria Falls, Zambia, has created another unique space called "the hangout" intended for simply doing nothing! It is essentially a very large sitting room perched over the Zambezi River, with sliding wood and glass doors, a fireplace and two additional decked areas for relaxing, rejeuvenating and private dining.

Johan Marais, co-founder of Saving the Survivors will host 4-day elephant workshops at Baines' River Camp, Lower Zambezi, Zambia. During safari outings and presentations, Johan will shed light on the complex social structures of these fascinating mammals, their behavioral patterns, genetics, communication skills and their importance to wildlife areas, while offering an insight into the management of elephants in fenced areas and the current threat to their survival in the wild.

In Mana Pools, Zimbabwe, Ruckomechi Camp is in the process of being completely rebuilt, and will re-open in May. The new camp will maintain all the best traits of the original authentic safari camp, yet present a fresh new feel. Just downstream from its sister camp, Little Ruckomechi (opening in July) will offer just three tented suites for an exclusive safari experience.

Toka Leya Camp, Victoria Falls, Zambia, has rejuvenated its health and wellness offering by rebuilding its spa and gym. The upgraded wellness area includes a separate spa treatment room with outdoor decking overlooking the broad, Zambezi River, where guests can also enjoy Pilates or yoga. A new air-conditioned fitness room has also been added, featuring gym equipment such as weights, exercise bikes and a treadmill for those who like to keep active while on safari.

Uncharted Africa, Botswana, has announced that the tea tent is back at Jack's Camp! Guests are once again enjoying relaxed, decadent afternoon teas in a gloriously traditional setting. Also, there is now a minimum of two guests required to embark on the extraordinary Kubu Quad Bike Expedition, which operates from June to September in the heart of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. Depart from Jack's or San Camp, wrap a kikoi around your head - Jack Bousfield style... close your eyes, open throttle and set off on your quad bike to The Lost Island of Baobabs.
