Goodbye Nelson Mandela

Since our last newsletter Nelson Mandela passed away at home in Houghton, South Africa, surrounded by his family. “Madiba,” who in many ways has been considered the father of all South Africans, will be remembered for his brave and invaluable influence on South Africa’s socio-political landscape and indeed upon the World. Fittingly, Mandela downplayed his importance in a final request: “I leave it to the public to decide how they should remember me,” he said, “but I should like to be remembered as an ordinary South African who together with others has made his humble contribution.” Visit the Nelson Mandela Memorial website here.
