Beauty Out of Africa

Southern Africa is a veritable treasure trove for botanicals that enhance health and beauty. Four oils are becoming particularly popular in products found in the United States. The oil from the Marula tree is comprised of 75 percent oleic acid and high amounts of palmitic acid, which serve to lock in moisture and create a protective barrier on skin. A cold pressed oil from the Mongongo nut contains high quantities of anti-aging vitamin E to keep skin vibrant, and eleostearic acid, which forms a protective layer over hair fibers to maintain shiny, healthy locks.
