Classic Africa

Peter from Bloomington, MN

July - Namibia, Botswana

Our African Adventure exceeded all of our expectations. These shots were taken using a Canon 40D with a 100-400 mm f/4.5-5.6L IS. We also brought a monopod and an additional smaller zoom lens. The next time we go to Africa we will bring a second camera body so that both lenses will be ready to go. The cheetahs were seen in Botswana. The chase photograph did result in a kill. The birds of Africa were something that really surprised and delighted us. The green bird is known as a little bee-eater, and the bird on the giraffe hide is either a yellow or a red-billed ox pecker. We saw lion(s) everyday of our safari. The lion in this picture is drinking from the Linyanti River, Botswana. He had just eaten his fill of a cape buffalo. The final shot is from La Petite Ferme, our favorite winery/restaurant just outside of Cape Town in Franschhoek, South Africa.
