Luxury Tented vs Luxury Lodge

* The table below does not list all features and highlights, only those that are relative strengths compared to the other option in the table.
* Luxury tented camps feature rooms with canvas walls; luxury lodges feature rooms with solid walls (bricks and mortar). All are five or six rated (Cick here for an explanation of our rating system).
* It is possible to combine a luxury tented and a luxury lodge destination, and many of our clients like to do this. The only downside is that you very often "lose" a night in Johannesburg en route between South African reserves and those in countries to the north.

Luxury Lodge Safari
|
| * Vast wilderness areas, remote and pristine destinations. Unfenced, unmanaged, self-sustaining ecosystems. |
* Closer to civilization with land communications (phone, fax, internet) and mainline electrical power. Proximity to world class medical care |
| * High degree of habitat diversity, with wet and dry areas = diverse array of species and activities. |
* Guide and tracker (assistant guide) per vehicle |
| * Large herds of grazers = high volume of game and healthy predator populations |
* Concentrated diversity of 'high profile' species (e.g. the 'Big Five'). Rhinos are a real strength (leopards also in some areas).
|
| * Spectacular landscapes and natural wonders |
* Ease of travel - good flight connections within South Africa |
| * Environmental sensitivity and minimal human impact. Thin canvas walled rooms feel "close" to the bush (e.g. hear animal sounds as night). |
* High levels of luxury (e.g. air conditioning) with luxury facilities (e.g. spa and gym) and fine dining |
| * Combine easily with Victoria Falls |
* Combine easily with Cape Town |
| * Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe (Namibia) |
* South Africa (Namibia) |
