Dropping the Fences in Kulala Nature Reserve, Namibia

The border fence between Kulala Nature Reserve (91,429-acres) and NamibRand Nature Reserve (425,515-acres) will soon be taken down, affording enormous benefit to the desert wildlife and the ecology of the area. In order for animal populations to prosper in arid ecosystems such as the Namib, large open areas are necessary to allow for for seasonal movements in response to rainfall. Opening the boundary fence will permit freedom of movement across a vast landscape, creating the largest private conservation area in southern Africa.
