Sighting of the Quarter: the Boomslang and the Chameleon
11/23/2011
In the bush, creatures are known to emerge and hold up traffic - be it elephants in the road or leopards on camp walkways. As new guests recently arrived at Madikwe Safari Lodge, in the Madikwe Reserve, South Africa, they met a wild and fantastic obstacle en route to their accommodation. A large boomslang snake was dangling from the tree over the walkway just outside their suite in pursuit of a chameleon. In one graceful swoop it managed to catch its prey, taking 45 minutes to consume the entire chameleon, while the newcomers stood transfixed in amazement!
