Sossusvlei Rains - Luxury Namibia SafarisSome believe the earth has shifted on its axis, others speak of global warming and El Niņo but, whatever the cause, Namibia has experienced some extraordinary weather patterns this year, resulting in record-high desert rainfall for the Namib Desert. The Sossusvlei area, home of Little Kulala Desert Lodge, which typically receives an average rainfall of about 2 inches per year, has been flooded with nearly 4 inches in just one month! This deluge has resulted in a surreal change of scenery - with the iconic red dunes surrounded by lakes of water at their base, lush grasslands and prolific and diverse exotic birdlife flocking to the area.
