Vuvuzela Recycling

11/22/2010

Recycling in South Africa - Luxury Southern African SafarisBy the time you read this, the contest for the most creative and useful repurposing of the vuvuzela will be well under way. If you recall from Classic Africa News, Volume 3, 2010, a vuvuzela is a three foot long plastic instrument adopted by soccer fans to express their enthusiasm during World Cup matches. South Africans are now seeking inventive ways to use the multitude of vuvuzelas that have littered the country since the world cup last summer. Design entries include a candlestick holder, a lighting fixture for hanging bulbs, an MP3 player and an irrigator. Local craftsmen will utilize the designs to produce marketable items for sale.
