Damaraland

Damaraland constitutes the vast northern portion of the Namib Desert, just inland from the Skeleton Coast. Quite in contrast to the southern reaches of the Namib, the terrain in Damaraland is mountainous and rocky, providing endless vistas of a multi-hued and rugged landscape, untamed as far as the eye can see. The Brandberg - Namibia's highest mountain - shimmers to the south, and the apparently infinite expanse of Damaraland is home to some of Africa's most unique wildlife, including the rare desert elephant and black rhino.
