Southern Africa

Taking into account weather conditions as well as rates, the southern Afreican safari year can roughly be divided into four seasons - the "Green Season" with the possibility of rain, and three components of the "Dry Season" that differ in terms of temperature and rates. Folow the links on the side panel for a detailed analysis.

Almost across the board, southern Africa's safari destinations receive less annual rainfall than East Africa's. There is a rainfall gradient in southern Africa, from east to west - locations to the east (e.g. Zambia) receive higher rainfall, and this trails off as one moves west, culminating in the deserts of  Namibia.
