Spring Comes to Africa

​​As captured in this stunning video, spring is a beautiful time of the year on the African savanna – occasional afternoon thunderstorms bring a flush of green to the landscape, new born babies dot the grasslands, and returning migrant birds fill the air with bright colors and vibrant song. And spring this year brings with it a special sense of optimism.

The wave of new Covid infections caused by the Delta variant is a thing of the past across safari Africa, and vaccination programs are finally receiving the doses that they need. With tourism one of the most economically important and contact-intensive industries across safari Africa, governments have designated it a priority sector, and private companies – from lodge operators and hotel chains to charter companies and airlines – have made resources available to distribute vaccine to all tourism workers and their families. The results are impressive – barely a day goes by that we're not receiving a report from another partners on the ground that 100% of their staff are now fully vaccinated.

Each passing week also brings more good news of easing travel restrictions and, as the Delta wave in the US finally shows signs of subsiding, there is a strong rebirth in the desire to travel, and we're seeing a "spring" of sorts with respect to new bookings for 2022 and 2023. It's too late to be an "early bird" for 2022, but there is still a chance of reserving your spot on the African savanna for next year, if you have some date flexibility and don't tarry any longer.
