Leopard Cubs Play on Guest Tent at Mara Plains Camp

Leopard cubs are among the most difficult animals to locate on safari. Cognizant of the many safety risks from other predators, birds of prey, and even baboons, leopard mothers diligently seek out the most impenetrable locations to give birth and hide their cubs for the first few weeks of their lives. Which is what makes this video of two-day-old cubs from our partners at Mara Plains Camp in the Maasai Mara (Kenya) so extraordinary - the extent to which the mother trusts the staff and guests at the camp, to allow the cubs to play on the tent roof, is remarkable!

Lion vs Pangolin

Travelers visiting Camp Xakanaxa in the Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana, had the sighting of a lifetime earlier this month: twelve lions hunting a pangolin! The well-adapted pangolin coiled itself inside its armor and amazingly survived the persistent lions.

 African Wild Dogs at Chitabe

Chitabe Camp in the Okavango Delta, Botswana, is home to 13 wild dogs, which recently provided a thrilling spectacle as they were being chased by a herd of zebras! They have been actively hunting, especially in the mornings, and playing amongst themselves in puddles of water. The other pack of nine dogs resident at Chitabe, with their four pups that are now six months old, have also been active in the area – often successfully taking two or three baby impalas at once.
