Set on the edge of Volcanoes National Park within a landscape of wetlands and lush meadows, Singita Kwitonda Lodge is set to open in August 2019. This endeavor marks Singita's commitment to conservation and  the plight of the country's critically endangered mountain gorillas.

With magnificent views of the Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura volcanoes, the lodge will offer eight luxurious and elegant suites, plus a four-bedroom villa, linked by volcanic rock pathways to a central lodge.

Singita's philosophy of" treading lightly on the land" is paramount to the lodge's construction and design ethos. The architects and interior designers are selecting locally sourced and produced materials for walls, ceilings and surface finishing. The local community has been engaged in building traditional dry stone walls on-site to define areas within the landscape.

Activities at Kwitonda will, of course, focus on gorilla trekking. In addition, there is much to see and explore in the area, such as the afro-montane forests of Nyungwe National Park and primordial Lake Kivu.
