The Last Lions is a documentary film created by Dereck and Beverly Joubert, award-winning photographers and film makers, to raise awareness about the need for lion conservation efforts in Africa. Fifty years ago, there were close to half-a-million lions in Africa…Today, there are approximately 20,000. This visually and emotionally powerful film, captured in Botswana's Okavango Delta at Duba Plains, documents the journey of a resilient lioness and her fight to protect her cubs from the myriad threats to their survival. In addition to their cinematographic success, Dereck & Beverly Joubert have spearheaded "The Big Cats Initiative" - an action-oriented international program to save the world's most extraordinary endangered predators.
