Duke's Camp East Opens

For an intimate safari experience that combines classic safari panache under-canvas with excellent game-viewing adventures in Botswana's Okavango Delta, consider the newly opened Duke's East. The sister camp to Duke's Camp, it delivers the same sophisticated style and distinguishing characteristics but with just four rooms – perfect for groups travelling together. Enjoy game drives, boating trips, mokoro meanders, scenic helicopter flights or spend a night fly camping on a secluded lantern-lit island. The main mess area reflects old-world glamour with its library and sitting area furnished with intricately carved tables, antique oriental rugs, and campaign furniture, complete with a well-stocked drinks cabinet. Meals are a lavish affair of crystal glasses and antique silverware, and three-course dinners that celebrate the Bousfield family tradition of honoring guests with fine food and wine in the wilds of the African bush.

Sleep Out at Mchenja Camp

Located in the heart of South Luangwa National Park, Zambia, Mchenja Camp now offers an adventurous sleep-out experience. Slumber on a cozy bedroll under a blanket of stars, listening to the susurrations of the nighttime bush. This traditional serviced camping adventure will provide a memorable experience for all.

Family Cottage at Kirkman's Kamp

Kirkman's Kamp in South Africa's game-rich Sabi Sand Reserve now boasts a Family Cottage consisting of two air-conditioned guest cottages interconnected via an internal doorway. The Family Cottage can accommodate a maximum of two adults and two children (three children upon request).

Naboisho Camp Refurbished

Naboisho Camp, located in the Maasai Mara, Kenya, is undergoing refurbishment and will be re-opening in June. Its nine guest tents have been rebuilt to create a heightened sense of space and luxury. Bathrooms feature views over the Naboisho Valley from a solar-heated outdoor shower. The family tents have been redesigned to create two suites – each with two bedrooms and bathrooms connected by a central sitting area. The camp's shared indoor and outdoor living and dining space is also being re-imagined and expanded.

Wolwedans Boulders Camp Re-Opens

Wolwedans Boulders Camp enjoys one of the most serene and beautiful settings in Namibia and will be reopening in May after a 3-year closure. Carefully located in and around the base of one of the massive outcrops of granite rocks in the NamibRand plains, Boulders is set in the deep south of the reserve – well off the beaten track. Here, a sense of peace and deep calm pervades the guest experience. The refurbished camp will feature five suites nestled amongst granite boulders, with spectacular desert views.

Farm to Table at the Manor

Nestled in the highlands of Tanzania's Ngorongoro Crater, The Manor boasts an extensive vegetable garden on its grounds, where an array of fresh produce is grown using the nutrient-rich volcanic soil found in the area. The estate's new menu displays the best of what the shamba (garden) has to offer. Guests can start their day with a farmhouse breakfast featuring fresh farm eggs and sourdough breads. Dinner is a fine dining experience that is both delicious and sustainable. The tasting menu features five small courses, each crafted to highlight the unique flavors and textures of the vegetables grown at the property. From the freshness of heirloom tomatoes to the subtle sweetness of roasted root vegetables, each dish is a celebration of the abundant and diverse produce that grows in the shambas, expertly prepared by the Manor's culinary team.

Refashioning the Cape Grace

The Cape Grace Hotel has been purchased by the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts brand and will be refashioned to reflect its new ownership's vision. The hotel will temporarily close from 29 May until 30 November 2023. The re-fashioning will not only refresh the décor and ambience of public spaces and rooms, but is bringing with it a number of fundamental changes. The room count will be reduced to 112 from 120 and a number of unrivalled luxury suites will be added. The Spa will be repositioned and extended, and the restaurant (and its menu) will be re-designed.  What isn't changing though is the Cape Grace's unrivaled location right on the harbor of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, and its world-class service.

Jongomero Camp's Villa

Jongomero Camp in Ruaha, Tanzania, has a new exclusive-use villa that is designed for groups of 4 to 8 guests. The Villa consists of two identical tented suites, a living and dining space, and infinity lap pool with a 180-degree vista.

The Retreats are Coming

The latest additions to northern Tanzania, The Retreats at Sayari and Namiri Plains Camps, will open on July 1st and cater to multi-generational families, groups of friends, those requiring total exclusivity, and privately guided groups. Each Retreat has two en suite master bedrooms - featuring an outdoor shower at Sayari and an outdoor bathtub at Namiri. A central living and dining space forms the heart of each Retreat, with an expansive deck and swimming pool. Offering a heightened level of luxury, style and privacy, the Retreats grant guests a totally flexible Serengeti safari experience, with their own safari guide and vehicle, chef and host per unit.

Introducing Mokete

Set deep within the Mababe Concession is one of the most unique ecosystems in Botswana, featuring great expansive grasslands teaming with game – home to the future Mokete Camp due to open in 2026. To fully experience the never-ending panorama, walls will be created from cantilevered canvas with roofs that slide away, revealing a panoply of stars. Accommodating just eighteen guests in nine tents, this pioneering camp promises luxury as well as intimate wildlife encounters, such as sharing a drink with elephants mid-day or hearing haunting hyena calls at night. Due to the high wildlife and predator activity in the area, coupled with the open design of the camp, Mokete will have a minimum age requirement of 16 years old.
