Jack's Camp Unveiled
For several decades, Jack's Camp has set the standard for barefoot elegance and desert adventure in the Kalahari, Botswana. While staying true its iconic 1940's safari style, the camp will be rebuilt and refreshed with a luxurious new look, and is set to re-open May 1st, 2020. The new Jack's Camp will have 10 spacious tented rooms, with textiles imported from India, natural history curio cabinets, wood-burning stoves, an over-bed cooling system, and private verandas complete with plunge pools. En suite bathrooms will boast both indoor and outdoor showers, with views over the otherworldly Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. The "mess tent" will be expanded to include a registered Natural History Museum, library, antique pool table and a well-stocked drinks chest. The nomadic Persian tea tent will also be extended, while the swimming pool pavilion will be reimagined with the addition of a sun deck and a spa tent. The Elegant experience everyone expects at Jack's will be preserved  – with plated dinners, candlelight, gleaming silver, unobtrusive service, and well-schooled guides.

Magashi
Wilderness Safaris' newest camp, Magashi, has been established in Rwanda's striking Akagera National Park, in partnership with the Rwanda Development Board and the conservation group African Parks. Akagera's habitat differs widely from the rainforests of Volcanoes National Park, making a safari here the ideal complement to an exploration of Rwanda's western areas. Combine a bucket list gorilla trek in the legendary Virunga Mountains, staying at Bisate Lodge, with a productive exploration of the savannah and wetlands of Akagera in the country's northeast.

Singita Faru Faru
Inspired by the fusion of traditional African craft with Danish simplicity, Singita Faru Faru Lodge has been re-imagined within its wilderness setting in Tanzania's Serengeti. Shaped organically with its main focus on the nearby waterhole, the architecture makes a bold design statement enhanced by the creative use of locally sourced natural materials. Decor follows a neutral color palette of bone, ivory, nude and clay, perfectly combining local rustic elements with fresh and clean-lined modernity. The main living and dining areas have been expanded, with enclosed retreats for dining and relaxing added. An interactive kitchen and signature "bar-deli" provide a new dynamic to the dining experience, while open seating areas have been pulled forward, closer to nature.

Selinda Camp
Opening June 1st in the Okavango Delta, the new Selinda Camp rests on the banks of Botswana's Selinda Spillway, as it enters the Linyanti River. The camp represents the meeting place of three cultures; European, Mokololo, and Bayei. Spears, shields and an African theme of Robinson Crusoe are woven throughout the camp, and its architectural design elements center around Water, Air, Earth, and Fire, all of which ground the design and ensure harmony with nature's natural elements. The private 320,000 acre Selinda Reserve boasts large elephant herds, regular sightings of African wild dogs as well as the Selinda Lion Pride recently featured in the National Geographic film Birth of a Pride by camp owners, Dereck and Beverly Joubert.

Chikwenya and Ruckomechi
Chikwenya, Ruckomechi and Little Ruckomechi Camps have recently re-opened in Zimbabwe's Mana Pools National Park, a place of diverse habitats and abundant wildlife, offering one of Africa's most coveted safari experiences. The camps are situated within private concessions on the western and eastern boundaries of the National Park, and each has a spectacular setting among riverine woodland, on the banks of the Zambezi River. One of Mana Pools' many highlights is the wide range of activities available which create a truly multidimensional experience. These include game drives, guided walks, canoeing, boating, catch-and-release fishing or simply absorbing this remote area's incredible serenity and diversity.

Little Loisaba Tented Camp
Adjacent to Kenya's Loisaba Tented Camp, the private use Little Loisaba provides an exclusive safari experience, ideal for a family or small group. Three luxurious safari tents lead to a private infinity pool and open dining area, with panoramic views of the stunning Laikipia landscape below. Guests of Little Loisaba enjoy the exclusive use of a safari vehicle for the duration of their stay along with the vast array of activities available on Loisaba, including guided bush walks, camel trekking, mountain biking and Samburu village cultural visits.

Singita Kwitonda Lodge and Kataza House
Set in the magnificent northwestern reaches of Rwanda, on the edge of Volcanoes National Park, Singita's Kwitonda Lodge and Kataza House will open their doors in August 2019 and form part of an ambitious conservation partnership with the Rwandan government and local communities. The décor and design of Kwitonda Lodge and the four-bedroom exclusive-use villa, Kataza House, incorporates locally sourced and produced materials for walling, ceilings and surface finishes, while celebrating the handiwork of local artisans such as stone masons, weavers and ceramicists. The lodge and villa are set against the backdrop of the dramatic Virunga Mountain Range – home to the critically endangered mountain gorillas and also one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world, comprised of steppes, swamps, lava plains, savannas and dense high-altitude forest.

Azura Benguerra Island
Mozambique's Azura Benguerra Island has launched its Peri Peri Beach Bar. This relaxed, chic, barefoot beach bar will offer a Portuguese-themed barbeque-style menu, mixology cocktail menu and magnums of champagne. Interactive lively meals, together with a pool and massage pavilion, make this the perfect spot to while away the afternoon. In the evenings, enjoy dinners under the stars followed by beach cinema and bean bags.

Ballooning in Botswana
Balloon season (April – September) is now underway at Vumbura Plains and Little Vumbura Camps in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. The experience has been upgraded in that passengers will now be transferred to the launch site via helicopter instead of vehicle.

Historc Tramway Excursions, Victoria Falls
Historic Tram & Bridge Tours are now being offered as a lunchtime train journey from Zimbabwe's Victoria Falls Railway Station, adjacent to the Victoria Falls Hotel, to the iconic Victoria Falls Bridge. Upon arrival at the station, enjoy a selection of sandwiches and snacks, with a Pimm's cocktail or glass of champagne. After a brief introduction, the vintage styled train slowly meanders through the National Park, with frequent sightings of wildlife, toward the iconic Victoria Falls Bridge, where it will stop to take in the beauty and magnitude of the Victoria Falls. The journey ends with carefully selected craft gins and snacks at "the viewpoint," before returning to the station.

Farm to Fork at Borana Lodge
Kenya's Borana Lodge is offering "Fresh from the Garden," a unique farm to table experience that explores the process of organic permaculture and the trials of running a farm between two conservation areas; Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Borana Conservancy. Following breakfast at Borana Lodge, guests enjoy a short game drive to Waitabit Farm where they will tour the garden and pick fruit and vegetables, with the assistance of the Head Gardener. They will then tour the rest of the farm with the Farm Manager, ending at a picnic site nestled on the banks of the Ngare Ndare River. Lunch will consist of produce that the guests have picked and meat from local farms. "Fresh From The Garden" offers an engaging and delicious glimpse into the process of sustainable agriculture, which bridges the gap between farm and fork.
