Property and Activity Updates

Little Governor's Camp, Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

Little Governor's Camp is proud to reveal its elegant new mess tent, set on an expansive deck overlooking a beautiful marsh frequented by wildlife. The tent includes a sitting area, bar and dining room as well as a beautiful outdoor dining space, built specifically to be "ele proof" due to the resident herds who often visit the camp at lunchtime.

Toka Leya, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Livingstone, Zambia

Toka Leya, located close to the Victoria Falls, was recently refurbished with a nod to its Zambian heritage. The guest suites have been refreshed and the dining areas reworked to make the most of the beautiful, natural spaces around the camp – inspired by the waters, wildlife and tranquility of the Zambezi River.

The suites now offer a more spacious interior, locally designed light fittings, contemporary furnishings and locally printed textiles. A pod swing floats above each private deck, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the surrounding wilderness. The common areas have also been rebuilt and revamped to include Zambian basket light fittings, a relocated and enlarged bar clad with fabric in a bespoke Zambezi fish design, and colorful bean bags on the water's edge.

Conservation and Co-Existence Experience, Okavango Delta, Botswana

Culture and conservation have been merged into a scenic four hour helicopter experience where guests fly over some of the most picturesque scenery of the Okavango Delta en-route to visit two important community projects: CLAWS (Communities Living Among Wildlife Sustainably) and "Life With Elephants" in the traditional Hambukushu village of Eretsha. At CLAWS guests will explore a herding program that has been established to reduce carnivore conflict, and benefit livestock owners with veterinary assistance and improved rangelands. The experience includes a talk with the head herdsman of the project and a guided tour of the bomas used for confining and protecting cattle.

"Life with Elephants" has been established to increase benefits to communities that co-exist with elephants. Guests are guided on a tour of the village to experience all aspects of village life, including visiting the local school and a typical farmer's household. The day-to-day challenges of living amongst elephants are described by village elders, followed by traditional song and dance.

This excursion can be arranged from almost all Okavango Delta safari camps, please contact us if interested.
