Stronger Together: Make a Difference in Africa

4/1/2020

Some clients have contacted us to ask how they might be able to make a positive difference in Africa in lieu of travel during this challenging time. While there are many important projects and causes that would benefit from contributions, we selected just a few to use as a starting point.

Bushcamp Company's US-based registered 501(c)(3) charity, Friends of Charity Begins at Home. It supports education, wildlife, land conservation, infrastructure and health programs impacting the South Luangwa, Zambia. The company guarantees that 100% of any donation is spent on conservation and community.

The Wilderness Trust gratefully receives donations for a number of important Research, Conservation, Community Empowerment, Education, Anti-Poaching and Management Projects - including the Scorpion Anti-Poaching Unit, Children in the Wilderness, and Desert Lion Conservation efforts featured in this edition. Tax deductible donations can be made here.

The Great Plains Foundation is also committed to creating a bright future for some of the most endangered wildlife, fragile ecosystems, and remote communities in the world. Consider giving "Where it is needed most" to allow the foundation to quickly respond in the most effective ways to the rapidly changing environment we find ourselves in. Donations can be made here.

The KHULA project referenced above is seeking support for teaching efforts during and beyond the lockdown. Click here to donate.

  • $250 pays the salary of one teacher's aide for a month

  • $200 buys a month of data to connect all KHULA learners to the internet

  • $125 purchases a tablet computer, opening the doors of learning to rural families

Natural Selection's COVID-19 Village Support Program will be transporting food parcels to remote villages in Botswana and Namibia to improve nourishment of communities in the face of this unprecedented viral threat. Additionally, the Feed-a-Child Program will continue regardless of school closings and Elephant Express buses will be on the road in the northern Okavango Delta assisting people with access to clinics via dangerous elephant corridors and with school transport as and when schools reopen. Please donate here.

  • $75 US dollars will feed a family of 6 for one month

  • $300 US dollars will feed a classroom of children for one month

  • $1400 US dollars pays for one Elephant Express bus for one month
