Hiking
Hiking is an activity option at many of southern Africa's top Eco Lodges. The primary difference between hiking and walking safaris is that hiking can be done independently, without necessarily being accompanied by a guide. The absence of dangerous animals at most Eco Lodges facilities this level of independence, which is not possible at safari camps and lodges. Eco Lodges are also a much safer setting for independent hiking than public hiking trails, where unknown people may be encountered - we never recommend that travelers to southern Africa hike anywhere except at Eco Lodges without being accompanied by a guide.
