Best of Botswana - 14 Day Overland Safari

Day 1: Nata Sanctuary

Departure point is Waterfront Lodge (Livingstone). Guests are required to be at the reception at 08h00. You will depart Livingstone by road transfer (08h30), and the safari travels via the Kazungula border into Botswana where you will meet your guide. Guide will assist with drinks purchase in Kasane and we will head for the Nata Sanctuary, situated on the edge of the Madgadigadi salt pans, with a picnic lunch en-route. We arrive at Nata in the late afternoon, and enjoy our first spectacular sunset on the pans before returning to camp for dinner. (Lunch and Dinner included).

Giraffe on the edge of the Pan

Days 2-3: Nxai Pan

On the morning of day 2 we move camp due west to Nxai Pan National Park, enjoying lunch at the ancient Baines' Baobabs along the way. The next two nights are spent camping at Nxai Pan, with game-drives during the day to search for the many species of antelope that graze on the Pan, and the predators that stalk them. (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner).

Day 4: Maun

After a morning drive we say good bye to this unique area and its wildlife. A short drive takes us to our hotel in Maun, where there is a pleasant bar and swimming pool. The afternoon is at leisure. (Bed, Breakfast). Dinner at guests own expense.

Days 5 and 6: Moremi Game Reserve (Xakanaxa)

This morning we travel by road to the Xakanaxa area of the Moremi Game Reserve, in an area of permanent flood within the Okavango Delta. We arrive at our campsite around lunch time, then relax before our afternoon game-drive. This is a very game-rich part of the Delta and the Moremi Reserve, and we can expect to see a lot of wildlife along the waterways and in the floodplains.

A fisheagle swoops

Game viewing is done along the waterways and floodplains. Species such as giraffe, Zebra and wildebeest are but a few that occur here. Overnight camping in the Xakanaxa area. On day six we explore the crystal clear channels of the Delta by motor boat, followed by a picnic lunch on a sand bank in the heart of this permanent water system. Overnight camping. (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner).

Days 7 and 8: Moremi Game Reserve (Kwai)

We start our journey to Kwai by boating to the mainland at Xakanaxa, and then travel by vehicle along the Kwai River flood plain to our private camping site, where we will spend the next two nights. Early morning and afternoon game-drives deliver game-viewing of the highest standard, with animals being drawn to the area by the waters of the Kwai River. There is of course, that obligatory siesta during the hottest part of the day. (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner).

Days 9 and 10: Chobe National Park (Savuti)

We travel by vehicle to the mysterious Savuti Channel, located in the south western portion of Chobe National Park. This area of rocky hills and open, dry marshland is most famous for its concentrations of lion, and bull elephants. We camp here for two nights, conducting morning and afternoon game-drives through the area in search of the wildlife that has made Savuti famous. Time permitting, we also visit some San Bushman paintings hidden in the rocky outcrops. (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner).

Days 11 and 12: Chobe National Park (Serondella)

Continuing northwards, we make our campsite at Serondella, close to the great Chobe River. This part of Chobe is famous for its huge herds of elephant, said to be the largest in Africa. We explore the banks of the Chobe River and the adjacent teak forests in the course of our morning and evening game-drives, searching for elephant, hippo, lion, and the many other species of game that make their home in this area. Game-viewing by boat is also available as an extra activity at guests' own expense. (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner).

Day 13 - Victoria Falls, Livingstone, Zambia

After a final game-drive along the Chobe, we head for the border post at Kazungula and arrive at our lodge in Livingstone. Afternoon is at leisure for optional activities (guests own expense). Overnight Zambezi Waterfront (Bed, Breakfast). Victoria Falls entry is not included in the tour.

Day 14 - Victoria Falls

After breakfast the safari ends. (Breakfast).
