LANZERAC MANOR AND WINERY

The legendary Lanzerac manor and winery, built in 1692, is located on the outskirts of the charming historic town of Stellenbosch in the hearth of the Cape Winelands.

The Lanzerac is one of the region's most distinguished examples of Cape Dutch architecture. Over the years, additions have been made in good taste and period style to create forty spacious and exclusive guest rooms. Each is decorated in a "neo-classical" mode and affords all modern amenities. With three swimming pools and 350 acres of immaculately kept grounds, solitude is easy to procure.

Dining at the Lanzerac is a highlight, with four different restaurants from which to choose. Enjoy breakfast or lunch in the Mediterranean elegance of the Lady Anne Courtyard.

For a more formal, romantic dinner, select from a wide range of a la carte delights at the splendid Governors Hall Restaurant.

As a fitting end to the perfect meal, guests are invited to retire in the evenings to the Craven Lounge, a tribute to local rugby legend, Danie Craven, decorated with fine oil paintings and Victorian furniture. This cozy lounge is also the ideal spot to relax and enjoy afternoon tea any time between 3:00 and 6:00 pm.

The 'Taphuis' room, the original kitchen of the old Manor House, is another highlight - aged yellow wood tables, on sloping slate floors, create a wonderfully authentic atmosphere in which to enjoy a good ale and hearty conversation.

The Lanzerac Manor & Winery is located on a private working wine estate in the world-famous Jonkershoek Valley surrounded by the dramatic Helderberg mountains. Guests are free to wonder around in the Lanzerac's ample grounds, including 23 acres of award-winning landscaped gardens featuring numerous ancient oaks, some over 160 years old. For the more energetic, the are numerous walking, hiking, and mountain biking trails through the vallays and mountains surrounding the estate.

The historic town of Stellenbosch, one of the most charming in all of South Africa, is a short 5 minute drive away, while the Lanzerac is situated in the centre of South Africa's famous wine producing areas of Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschhoek and Somerset West; numerous golf courses and the beaches of the Strand, Gordon’s Bay and Cape Town are all within an easy 30 minute drive.
