KING'S CAMP

King's Camp is located in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, on the western boundary of South Africa's great Kruger National Park. The Kruger Park (a 5.5 million acre sanctuary for wildlife, bigger than Wales or Massachusetts) is widely regarded as Africa's premier game reserve, and has been described as "no longer merely a national asset. It is part of a dwindling global treasure, the collective natural heritage of mankind". This western section is one of the most game-rich parts of the greater Kruger eco-system, and is home to Africa's 'big five' (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), as well as hundreds of other species of African animals.

Safari game-drive

Game-drive safaris at King's are conducted in specially adapted open Landrovers carrying a maximum of nine guests, with professional guides and trackers to help find animals, and then provide interesting background information and facts about Africa's spectacular wildlife. King's Camp also offers night drives with spot lamps to view nocturnal species. Walking safaris with your guide and tracker provide even deeper and more 'hands-on' insight into the many intricate eco-systems of the African bush.

The luxurious suite rooms

Accommodation is in luxurious thatched suites, with expansive glass windows, and private verandahs complete with hammocks. In a successful marriage of colonial and contemporary African style, the suites are understated and elegant with great attention to detail. Huge wooden sleigh beds, white cotton sheets and Victorian ball-and-claw bathtubs meld perfectly with sisal carpeting, hand-dyed fabrics and indigenous basketry. The effect is pleasing, romantic and will delight your senses. With only eleven rooms personal attention and an intimate atmosphere is assured.

An open air 'boma' dinner

Other features deserving mention at King's Camp include a swimming pool where guests can relax and watch the game communing around a waterhole directly in front of camp. The "big five" are often spotted here! There is also a raised observation platform overlooking the very active waterhole. In addition to a well-eqipped gym, a wide variety of spa treatments are offered to ensure a rejuvenating holistic safari experience. There is a cozy bar area and where guests gather for pre-dinner cocktails before enjoying a delicious meal served in the spacious dining room or in the traditional boma around a roaring fire.

Indulge in a bubble bath

King's Camp offers a high quality safari experience in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Featuring elegant accommodations, personalized service, and excellent game viewing, King's Camp provides the classic "luxury safari lodge" experience without the price tag that typically accompanies such an all-round offering. Whether you're looking for a romantic honeymoon destination, or just a vintage "Out of Africa" safari with great game-viewing, King's Camp is one of the best mid-range lodges in the Kruger ecosystem.
