CHOBE/LINYANTI PORTFOLIO

Botswana's vast Chobe eco-system is one of the most fecund and scenic in Africa. Watered by the perennial Chobe, Linyanti, and Kwando Rivers, the greater Chobe region hosts most of Africa's big game species in high concentrations; what the reserve is perhaps most famous for, however, is its huge population of elephants - estimated to be in the region of 45,000 strong. A word of caution about Chobe National Park, however - there are two large hotels within and directly adjacent to the Park itself. In combination with a lot of day traffic from nearby Victoria Falls, this makes Chobe National Park rather overcrowded with visitors, which greatly detracts from the overall safari experience. As such, we recommend that travelers stay at one of the private concessions that adjoins the National Park - here you will enjoy the same quality of game-viewing (nothing obstructs the free movement of game between the Park and the surrounding reserves) with the privacy and intimacy that are so important to a true African wilderness experience.
