The "Real Africa" - On Safari in Zambia |
Day 1 Arrive Johannesburg International Airport under your own arrangements. Check in for your South African Airways flight to Lusaka. You will be met at Lusaka Airport and transferred by light charter aircraft to Mfuwe, from where you will connect by light aircraft to Lukuzi. From Lukuzi it is a short game-drive transfer to Tafika Camp. Days 1-4 Spend three nights at Tafika Camp in a Chalet, on a fully inclusive basis (including accommodation, all meals, drinks, game -viewing activities, laundry, and the services of a professional guide). Day 4 Today you will be collected from Lukuzi airstrip and transferred by light aircraft to Mfuwe. From Mfuwe you will be transferred by light charter aircraft to Jeki Airstrip, from where it is a game-drive transfer to Chiawa Camp. Days 4-7 Spend three nights at Chiawa Camp in a Chalet, on a fully inclusive basis (including accommodation, all meals, drinks, game -viewing activities, laundry, and the services of a professional guide). Day 7 Today you will be transferred by game-drive vehicle to Jeki Airstrip. You will be met and transferred by light charter aircraft to Lusaka Airport. From Lusaka you will be transferred by light charter aircraft to Busanga Airstrip, and thence by helicopter to Shumba Camp. Days 7-10 Spend three nights at Shumba Camp in a Tented Room, on a fully inclusive basis (including accommodation, all meals, high tea and hors d'oeuvres, all activities, refreshments while on activity, all non-premium brand beverages, laundry, and the services of a professional guide). Day 10 Today you will be transferred by helicopter from Shumba Camp to Busanga Airstrip. From Busanga you will be transferred by light charter aircraft to Livingstone Airport. From Livingstone you will be transferred by vehicle to Toka Leya Camp. Toka Leya Camp is situated on the banks of the Zambezi River in the eastern sector of the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, some 12km upstream from the Victoria Falls. The camp nestles between mature shade trees on the banks of the Zambezi, and has been sensitively designed to maximize guest comfort while minimizing impact on the riverine forest and wildlife movement patterns. Accommodation consists of 12 safari-style tents, each en-suite and air conditioned, with magnificent views of the Zambezi River. The camp's dining and bar area are under a canopy of jackalberry and waterberry trees overlooking the River, and there is a swimming pool. Activities include a tour of the Falls on the Zambian side, game drives, river cruises and guided walks. At over a mile wide wide, Victoria Falls is the most expansive curtain of water in the world, dropping more than 300 feet into the sheer Zambezi Gorge. The Tonga and Makalolo peoples lived here for centuries before the Falls were 'discovered' by David Livingstone in 1855, who named them after his queen. Its local name is Mosi-Oa-Tunya, "the Smoke that Thunders," reflecting the huge spiral of spray that can be seen from 20 miles away. Other activities on offer in the area at an additional charge include helicopter flights, micro-lighting, canoeing, jet boating, and white water rafting. Days 10-12 Spend two nights at Toka Leya in a Tented Room, on a fully inclusive basis (Including accommodation, 3 meals daily, local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, laundry, 2 activities per day includeing a river cruise, a game drive into the Park, a tour of the Zambian side of the Falls, a tour of Livingstone town and museum and a visit to a nearby village and local curio shops). Day 12 Today you will be transferred by vehicle to Livingstone Airport for your scheduled flight to Johannesburg International Airport. From this point you will depart under your own arrangements.
